Shakespeare in Performance I Actors Workshop with Aaron Posner Posner will use his groundbreaking work considering the first printings of the Shakespeare texts in performance, on the rehearsal floor, and in the classroom to form the basis for his workshop. This workshop will focus specifically on the ways that the folio and quarto texts contain directions to the actors. He will use contemporary editions as reference points. Posner will use professional actors from local theater companies to demonstrate how an understanding of the text's internal directions can help a contemporary actor, director, or teacher gain crucial insights into developing a Shakespearean role. He will then invite members of the audience on stage to test his methods. |
